eBay’s Fulfillment Plan’s Getting Closer To Launch

Last month we posted that eBay were in the process to start trialling a fulfillment house but we weren’t sure who it might be now the news has broken that eBay are the newest investors in Shipwire, an order fulfillment service, which offers its services in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

eBay say the added capital will help Shipwire expand its network of storage and fulfillment warehouses into new countries maybe even Australia…

Shipwire has built a logistics technology platform that gives any seller access to storage and shipping tools in domestic and international markets, previously only available to the largest merchants. Shipwire’s innovative fulfillment solutions will be a boost to growing merchants on eBay as sellers seek new ways to meet the shipping and customer service needs of buyers.

This is the second move eBay has made this year regarding order fulfillment. In June, the company announced it would pilot a fulfillment program later this year. It remains to be seen whether the program will leverage Shipwire’s services, or be positioned as a competitor.

eBay are looking to compete with Amazon by offering fulfillment houses as part of the service to make sure that their sellers are being looked after in all aspects. Once the program has been trialled overseas we’re sure that eBay will look at offering something similar here in Australia…

Til next time, have a great eBay weekend!
